Our Mission

Red Door Galleria is an art gallery and healing center located in Wausau, Wisconsin. Our mission is to promote healing through the arts, coupling compelling artistic design with the restorative power of its creation.    Join us in connecting the therapeutic power of art with the community through exhibitions and workshops that promote growth, healing and well-being.

We are located in downtown Wausau in the historic River District.  We represent and promote artists working in a wide array of media, including painting, sculpture, photography, video, music, poetry and installation that's related to supporting the healing power of art.

How We're Helping

Art is a powerful healing tool to explore deep emotions - the sorrows, the struggles, and the joys.  It has the ability to transform us by awakening parts of ourselves to recover and heal, and expanding our growth and understanding of ourselves and the world. Through the creation and appreciation of artwork, poetry and music, we can find heightened understanding of ourselves and our world, developing deeper personal vocabularies for a fuller identity.

Through the sharing of our artists' work, we can open up a greater community dialogue for a deeper and more meaningful understanding of the mental health world and the healing power of art, and in doing so, reduce the stigma that haunts those who struggle with adversity.

Through the sharing of the healing power of art,  we can open up a greater community dialogue for a deeper and more meaningful understanding of the artist’s creative world and in doing so, help those who suffer in the mental health with a new medium of expression.

A portion of proceeds of specific exhibitions benefit non-profit organizations that support the mental health community.  We strive to give those whose lives have been disrupted by mental illness an opportunity to experience meaningful work and relationships as they reintegrate into the broader community.

A Meditation on Mandalas Exhibiton by artist Stefanie Sladky

What is the connection between mindfulness meditation and drawing mandalas?

The connection: Think of the creation of a mandala as a portal to mindfulness and tranquility. Just as in meditation when we simplify our thoughts and just focus on our breathing, with the act of drawing a mandala you are simplifying your thoughts into a focus on the minute details of the lines. We are not sure where our design will take us. Drawing a mandala starts in the center and branches outward. It is the essence of being in the present moment, as you make up the design as you go. It authentically grows as you continue to draw lines and let it naturally flow out of you. We are not worrying about our past or our future, but instead we are giving our minds a break by just focusing on the task at hand.

Stefanie Sladky is an artist based in Wausau, Wisconsin. Often combining realistic imagery with intricate design work, her artwork is anything but simple. Using different masking techniques, pen and ink, watercolor and acrylic washes in multiple layers, she achieves unique visual representations of beauty in her work. Her intent is to draw the viewer in and capture intrigue and personal reflection with intricate mandala designs, joining the rhythm of nature with the mathematics of fractals, the organic with the binary, in color-rich interpretations. It is the hope of the artist that the viewer discovers something new and intriguing each time a piece is viewed.
